Animal welfare experts pay visit to DGS

Recently we were pleased to welcome animal welfare experts Roy Melsert, Awal Fuseini, Claire White and Charlie Mason to discuss anything and everything around animal welfare and sustainability in the industry. The guests were given a tour of the company, discussed animal-friendly stunning of both cattle and pigs and had a look at the stunning cage and the new automatic pusher. They also discussed making the industry more sustainable, for example by improving the shelf life of meat by reducing tainting.

Sustainability and animal friendliness are important themes for DGS. Therefore, Managing Director William van Ampting was very pleased with the visit: “it was an informative meeting, I hope we can make further steps in the field of sustainability and animal-friendliness soon.” On behalf of DGS, Henk ter Avest and William van Ampting would like to thank the experts for their visit and the insight given.
