Dutch Collaboration: Automatic Emptying and Cleaning of Waste Containers for DAKA-ReFood

May 23, 2024

DGS and Mafo Industrial Washing have joined forces for an innovative project focused on the emptying and cleaning of waste containers. In this project, the containers are automatically emptied by robots, with DGS developing the internal logistics systems, while Mafo handles the cleaning and drying processes.

We have developed a custom container gripper that can automatically tilt and empty the waste containers over a hopper. The waste is then transported upwards by various screw conveyors to a waste trailer. To ensure the containers are completely emptied, we have implemented a weighing system. Containers that are too heavy are sent back, manually prepared, and re-emptied by the robot. Then, Mafo’s industrial washing machine with a blow-dry unit ensures the containers are spotless and ready for reuse.

Thijs Waanders, Sales Manager at DGS, on the project: “By combining our robotic solutions and logistics systems with Mafo’s cleaning technologies, we offer DAKA-ReFood a complete, reliable solution. This project demonstrates the power of collaboration and innovation.”

This partnership between DGS and Mafo Industrial Washing optimizes the process of emptying and cleaning waste containers, contributing to more efficient and hygienic waste processing for DAKA-ReFood.
